The scoop on Tulip Little Beauty

The colors on these little tulips look like they were chosen by a 11 year old girl - deep pink, white and purplish blue. Still, most everyone else likes them, too, for their bright eyed look and perfect-for-edgings diminutive size. Plant a couple dozen (they're dirt cheap) and they'll make you smile for years to come.

Why Grow Species Tulips?

  • Species tulips are non-hybridized varieties, natural little beauties that are identical to their cousins still growing out in the wild
  • These determined plants survive in tough terrain - rocky hillsides in Turkey, Syria, Greece, Northern Africa, Lebanon, Jordan and Mongolia
  • Species tulips are long lived and happiest with plain soil and non-diva treatment
  • Plant these smaller tulips in generous groupings; they tend to look best in clumps rather than formal rows

Tip: for many years of spring flowers plant these tulip bulbs deep, 8" is best. This protects them from sitting in just-below-the-surface summer-baked soils, which Little Beauty doesn't much like.

Little Beauty is a winner! It has earned the Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.
