The scoop on Lilac Sensation

Most new color and pattern introductions are the result of careful hybridizing. Sensation, with its crisp white picotee edged petals was discovered as a naturally occuring "sport", a single individual that just grew differently from all its siblings. Causing a sensation (hence the name) from the very beginning, this popular lilac is a favorite for front and center placement.

Why Grow Sensation Lilacs?

  • Flowers grow in large panicles, 6-8" in length
  • Picotee edged flowers are a wonderful addition to bouquets
  • Sensation is winter hardy to chilly zone 3
  • Fragrance is light, but impact in a bouquet is outstanding
  • Foliage and flowers are not on the favorite foods list for deer
Lilac blooms attract butterflies and hummingbirds and are a valuable early season source of nectar.
