An heirloom variety first grown in 1896, lilac Charles Joly blooms in a deep wine red with double form flowers borne in clusters. This highly fragrant variety is a French hybrid, created by the three generations of horticultural breeder who developed the 200+ Lemoine lilac cultivars of Nancy, France.
Lilac blooms attract butterflies and hummingbirds and are a valuable early season source of nectar.
