Most of the very early spring flowers are white; winter aconite is a heart warming bright yellow. This member of the buttercup family is so tough it sometimes blooms right up through the snow. Plant this fall and watch the cheery patch spread each year for a bigger and brighter show, to push back those late winter doldrums.
Winter aconite self seeds and naturalizes where happy, spreading to create cheerful brilliant yellow patches in late winter, just when a little outdoor color is so welcome.
